Expanded Duties Rules Hearing -- Now on YouTube!

The Indiana State Board of Dentistry met on 8/7 and heard testimony on its proposed rules change that would establish training requirements for dental assistants performing coronal polishing and applying fluoride, and for dental hygienists administering local anesthetics. Vice President Terry Schechner represented IDA at the meeting. Representatives were also present from IDAA and IDHA. Testimony and discussion went on for three hours as the ISBD continued to work out specifics of the rules amendment. Next will be the State’s review of financial impact and the formal public hearing. Ed Popcheff estimates it will be next spring before the process is completed and the new rules are in force.
