The Basic Life Support course for health care providers is designed by the American Heart Association to meet the needs of health professionals who are required to hold a current certification or who have continuing education requirements for health care workers. This course covers CPR instruction, two-person rescue adult CPR, child and infant CPR, foreign body airway obstruction removal instruction and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) instruction. Written and practical tests will be administered.
Demonstrate life-saving CPR skills for victims of all ages, including defibrillation
Identify sudden cardiac arrest and respond using the AHA chain of survival
Respond to choking emergencies and use airway adjuncts
Training is required once per licensure period for hygienists. Training is required for dentists under certain circumstances once per licensure period.
**Indiana law limits hygienists to 2 CE credits for CPR training and 5 CE credits for dentists.
