OSHA & CPR Course Information





OSHA Compliance Issues    $75*

2 CE Credits
Check-in:    8:30-9:00 a.m.
Course:       9:00-11:00 a.m.

The focus of this OSHA review is record keeping requirements, exposure control measures, required training and GHS labeling.

Lecture Objectives:
  • Identify risk of exposure to infectious material and hazardous chemicals in the dental setting
  • Review personal protective equipment and exposure prevention strategies in dentistry
  • Understand disease transmission for HBV, HCV, HIV/AIDS
  • Plan for post-exposure management

Annual training is mandated by Federal Regulation.
 
 
 
 
CPR Recertification    $75*

2-5 CE Credits**
Check-in:    11:15-11:30 a.m.
Course:       11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. (approximately)

The Basic Life Support (BLS) course for health care providers is designed by the American Heart Association to meet the needs of all health professionals who are required to hold a current certification. Written and hand-on practical tests will be conducted.

Hands-on Objectives: 
  • Identify sudden cardiac arrest and respond using the AHA chain of survival
  • Demonstrate life-saving skills for victims of all ages, including defibrillation
  • Respond to choking emergencies and use airway devices

Training is required once per licensure period for hygienists. Training is required for dentists under certain circumstances once per licensure period.

*Course fees are $75 per person, per course, and $200 for non-IDA member dentists. A 10% discount is available for groups of 8 or more registered attendees from the same office, regardless of courses taken.


**Indiana law limits hygienists to 2 CE credits for CPR training and 5 CE credits for dentists.


About the Presenter

Kay Maddox is a graduate of IU School of Nursing and has practiced in Indiana for 43 years. Kay serves as Adjunct Faculty for three Ivy Tech State College campuses, Regional Faculty for the American Heart Association and Training Center Faculty for St. Vincent and IU Health Ball Memorial Hospitals. Kay is the owner of On-site Health and Safety Training Service, which offers emergency response training in the workplace for more than 6,000 rescuers each year. She has received Best Training Performance and Instructor of the Year from The National Safety Council/Health & Safety Institute. Kay has lectured to the dental community throughout Indiana for nearly twenty years regarding OSHA compliance and trained on Basic Life Support.

  • Pre-registration is required at least one week prior to each course. You will receive an email confirmation once your registration is approved.
  • Breakfast is provided; lunch is on your own.
  • Notify the IDA if you have a disability requiring special arrangements.
  • Classes may be cancelled due to low pre-registration. You will be notified and refunded if this occurs.
Important Notice: OSHA/CPR Refund Policy
We must contract with instructors in advance. For this reason, the following refund policy must be strictly enforced for our OSHA/CPR courses: Cancellation requests received by IDA seven or more days prior to the course will be honored with a full refund. OSHA cancellation requests received by IDA less than seven days prior to the course will be honored with a 50% refund. No refund will be given for CPR.
