2013 dues include increase, assessment

Staunchly committed to not approving a deficit budget, the 2012 IDA House of Delegates passed a combination dues increase and assessment to balance the 2012-2013 Budget.
The IDA dues adjustment totals $130 for the year – $10.83 per month for members participating in the monthly dues payment option. In addition, the ADA House of Delegates also approved a dues rate of $522 for full dues-paying members, as well as a 25 percent increase on active life membership dues.
The IDA Board of Trustees had recommended a $130 dues increase, but the House amended the proposal, reducing the dues increase to $70, and adding a one-time $60 assessment to make up the difference. The dues increase covers the increased cost of operations and member services, while the assessment covers short-term revenue shortfalls that we feel we can restore in 2013-2014. The combination dues increase/assessment was the House’s strategy for adequately funding 2012-13 operations, without burdening the membership with ongoing dues that are higher than necessary.
Including the assessment, 53 percent of IDA income comes from member dues. The remaining 47 percent is generated by sponsorships, royalties, advertising and continuing education income. The IDA’s last dues increase was in 2010.
